Access to Fertility Care: Findings from the 2024 KFF Women’s Health Survey

Fertility care, particularly in vitro fertilization (IVF), gained attention when the Alabama Supreme Court ruled that embryos created during IVF are “unborn children.” This decision sparked outrage and highlighted the impact of fetal personhood policies, which may limit access to reproductive health services, including contraceptives and fertility treatments. IVF has also become a topic in the presidential campaign.

The 2024 KFF Women’s Health Survey provides insights into fertility care access, examining women's views on availability, financial barriers, and the variety of services used. Conducted from May 13 to June 18, 2024, the survey collected data from a nationally representative sample of 6,246 adults aged 18 to 64, including 3,901 women aged 18 to 49. This paper focuses on data from women aged 18 to 49.
