Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidies (PGT-A) is a genetic test conducted on cells obtained from embryos created through IVF. PGT-A provides valuable insights into the genetic health of your embryos, aiding your healthcare team in selecting the most suitable embryo for transfer and increasing the likelihood of a successful pregnancy.
Chromosomes, which are composed of protein and DNA, carry genetic information from both the sperm and egg to the embryo. An embryo with the correct number of chromosomes, known as a euploid embryo, possesses 23 pairs, totaling 46 chromosomes. One pair comes from the egg, and the other from the sperm. When an embryo has an incorrect number of chromosomes, it is referred to as aneuploid. Euploid embryos have a significantly higher chance of successful implantation and the eventual birth of a healthy baby.
PGT-A can enhance the likelihood of successful implantation and pregnancy, decrease the risk of miscarriage, and minimize the potential emotional, physical, and financial impact associated with multiple IVF cycles.
